Break Bread Together

FPC of Valdosta started Break Bread Together on December 3, 1973.  Currently also designated as Valdosta’s Meals on Wheels, it is a volunteer community service project that furnishes a hot, balanced, noonday meal five days a week to low income, usually elderly, homebound recipients in Valdosta with no one in the home to care for them.

Caring volunteers from all walks of life serve as deliverers, sorters, callers, or offer support in other ways. The project is funded by churches, social/service clubs, and interested individuals. Gifts in memory of or in honor of friends or family members on birthdays, anniversaries, at Christmas or on other special occasions are beautiful expressions of love. 100% of tax-deductible donations to Break Bread Together goes to food for our clients, unless it is otherwise specified.

Donations or gifts can be sent to the church office at: P. O. Box 1094, Valdosta, GA 31603-1094. If you would like to explore volunteer opportunities or would like more information call 229-249-0779 or visit Online Giving.

Rise Against Hunger

On World Communion Sunday, FPC of Valdosta alternates with two other Presbyterian churches to host the Southern Cluster of the Flint River Presbytery-wide mission event: “Rise Against Hunger.” The Presbytery’s goal is to pack a total of 50,000 meals—a goal we generally surpass. Volunteers of all ages from area churches gather to pack meals of rice, dried veggies, and vitamins. This is a fun-filled event that allows us to help feed the hungry while also working closely with our sister churches in Flint River Presbytery.

Feeding the hungry, working closely with our sister churches and the Flint River Presbytery comes naturally at FPC.

The Bun Run

The Break Bread Bun Run 5K benefits Valdosta’s Break Bread Together program, which provides one meal a day (five days a week) to area senior citizens who are low income, who are home-bound and who, without caregivers, are unable to prepare meals for themselves. The program began over 30 years ago at First Presbyterian Church of Valdosta. Funds from this race go directly to supporting this program.
