Musical Worship and the Praise and Worship TeamSonrise Worship ServiceFirst Presbyterian Church, Valdosta, GAOur liturgy of worship is in accordance with Scripture and its purpose is to lift Jesus up and enter into worship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The musical worship at the Sonrise Service leans toward the contemporary genre while staying true to the roots of the classic hymns. A "blended" musical style may be the best description. The Praise and Worship Team is not all about music. We are called to be resources for God during our most precious time with him: worship. Our primary goal is to lead the congregation in celebration through music, worship, and actions, in a manner that is pleasing to God. While God is deserving of our best efforts and excellence, He is most interested in our hearts. The Team works to produce the best quality of music possible, always striving for continued improvement and development. As a Team, we surrender ourselves to larger goals and objectives, allowing God to use us as "one" to support the work of the church. In the musician's world, it is easy to get sidetracked and concentrate on performance and recognition. Praise and Worship Music and the Worship Arts are just individual aspects of the total worship lifestyle. Music and arts are vehicles to worship but, the goal is God's presence. Excellence is only useful in our music for one reason: to provide an atmosphere for people to enter God's presence, free from distractions. David C Adams Sonrise Worship Leader
The Presbyterian Student Center "The Center" 1510 North Oak Street, Valdosta, GA 31602 (Across from Hopper Hall)
"The Center" is an interdenominational ministry that provides a home away from home. We believe that personal faith should impact the larger world. God's world needs faith to be more than a Bible study for believers and gathering just amongst ourselves. We believe that faith grows and truly flourishes in an overwhelming sense of God's grace. Thus, we try to provide a setting where all are welcome, regardless of creed, denomination, or background, and where there are NO questions or statements too "awful" to voice. "The Center" is a place where people can stop feeling torn down, and instead be build up in the body of Christ. We stress volunteer mission and living our lives intentionally for God so that we impact the world around us. The student's spiritual life is nurtured and they are encouraged to go beyond the run of the mill student activities by melding real life, real issues, and real dreams with real truth. We offer a variety of programs that include weekly Bible studies, ALPHA, free meals, and periodic "excursion get-aways." We are located on N. Oak Street across the street from Hopper Hall. Parking spaces are available for those who regularly attend programs. There is a study room with two computers with DSL access, printers, and dry erase boards for study groups. Two rooms are available to rent for qualified students. Your prayers and financial support are needed as we continue to strengthen personal faiths and our world around us for the sake of Jesus Christ.
