"Break Bread Together," a local meals-on-wheels type program sponsored by the First Presbyterian church of Valdosta, Georgia, began on December 3, 1973.  It is a volunteer community service project that furnishes a hot, balanced, noonday meal five days a week all year long to approximately 50 low income, usually elderly, homebound recipients in Valdosta with no one in the home to care for them.

Each month 80+ caring volunteers from all walks of life and all age groups are involved in serving in this program as deliverers, sorters, callers, and supporters in numerous other ways.  The project is funded by churches, social/service clubs, and interested individuals.

Gifts in honor of friends or family members on birthdays, anniversaries, at Christmas or on some other special occasion are beautiful expressions of love as are those given in memory of loved ones.  These are truly living memorials, as the hungry among us are being fed physically and spiritually by "Break Bread Together."  "The Holy Supper is kept, indeed, in whatso we share with another's need."

Never has the need been greater for us all to reach out to the poor, the hungry, the lonely, the cold, the sick, and the tired.

Donations or gifts in honor of or in memory of can be sent to the church office at:

    P. O. Box 807, Valdosta, GA 31603
